Keep the Community Open while Wikipedia matures
Wikipedia matures, the content get better, so the latice for put new content into Wikipedia get higher. But to keep the community open, is very important. The community should not become a closed or semi-closed elite group. But how can we garant an open community while Wikipedia matures?
On the 2007 Wikimania Andrew Lih put up a panel with the title "The shifting nature of the community". This presentation should be a further discussion of the topic.
About me: My name is Ting Chen. I am mostly active in the Chinese Wikipedia, am also active in the German Wikipedia. Mainly I do translation works between Chinese, German and English wikipedia. I am an Administrator and a Bureaucrat of the Chinese Wikipedia. I began to edit Wikipedia at 2003. I was born in Shanghai, China. Grown up in Harbin and studies electronic engineering in Braunschweig, Germany. Now I live in Mainz Germany and work by IBM as a software developer and consultant.
